I discovered Geographical Information Systems (GIS) during my PhD work to be an ideal environment for storing, processing and visualising spatial information from disparate sources. The most powerful open-source GIS is GRASS, and most of my work in this area has been in the form of contributions to GRASS. I have also contributed patches to GDAL and PROJ.4.

Examples of my work on GRASS include:

and much more. I am currently a member of the Project Steering Committee and a mentor for Google Summer of Code.

I have quite a strong interest in approximated conversions between geographic datums, and have done development work related to this in the past.

I would be interested in taking on work related to datum transformations, further development of parts of GRASS etc. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements if you have any interest.
